DESCRIPTION:\n \n \nWhat is Watching the River Flow? The ancient Chinese Mystic Lao Tzu, the founder Taoism, had his disciples meditate by a river. They would just look into the river and simply watch it flow. We are offering an updated version of this insightful meditation! We present this technique each summer, with the assistance of a lovely waterfall and Thornton Creek, which runs through the back area of the center! You can see it clearly in the video below. Life tends to be speedy without a break to just stop and do nothing.  This meditation offers a calming alternative to the hustle bustle of daily life. It is a “time-out” that reconnects us with ourselves, and with nature!\nJust observing the constant flow of the waterfall and creek will help us tune into the ever changing flow of life by observing the constant flux of it. It is a practice to help us bring awareness into the chaos of these times. It helps us learn how to respond, instead of having a knee jerk reaction, to each situation – with more alertness and awareness.\nHow we do it: We will begin the session with body movement/ dance to first release and let go of mind/body stress.  Then we will practice mindfully adjusting the body so that we can sit comfortably with alertness – and watch (on Zoom or Live -if you are fully vaccinated, wear a mask and take an in-home Covid test before coming or come earlier and we can provide such a test), the waterfall and river flow for the rest of the hour.\nThe meditation is one hour, but a few minutes goes into giving instructions and meeting each other.  And afterwards, let yourself come back into the daily life slowly!
