Osho Gourishankar Meditation a part of the Heart and Soul Meditation Series (Online)
What is Osho’s Gourishankar Meditation? This meditation consists of four stages of 15 minutes each. The first two stages prepare the meditator for the spontaneous Latihan of the third stage.
Osho has said that if breathing is done correctly in the first stage, the carbon formed in the bloodstream will make the meditator as high as if on Gourishankar (Mt. Everest).
Why do we offer this meditation? We want people to experience many of the different meditation techniques that Osho introduced us too. Both Subhan and I have enjoyed this meditation – that’s why we offer it for you also to experience.
How we do it? The first stage sit with eye closed. Inhale deeply through the nose, filling the lungs. Hold the breath for as long as possible then exhale gently, through the mouth, keeping the lungs empty for as long as possible. This cycle is repeated for 15 minutes.
The second stage (15 minutes) – Return to normal breathing and allowing the gaze to be soft and gentle, look at a candle.
The third stage ( With closed eyes, stand up and let the body be loose and receptive. The subtle energies within will be felt to move the body outside your normal control. Allow this (Latihan) to happen. Don’t you do the moving, let the moving happen.
The Fourth Stage: Keeping your eyes closed, lie down and be still.
As part of the Heart and Soul series, each Wednesday we will present a Meditation from the numerous meditation traditions Osho has given us. We want to share and pass on as many of these as possible. Often when Shanti (one of the meditation facilitators of The World of Meditation) would meet with Osho in a darshan, he would introduce to her a meditation technique, asking her to try it out. Her love for experimenting with a variety of techniques continues even to this day.
Each session we will introduce the particular meditation presented. Then we will all do the meditation. There is always time before and after each meditation to ask questions and to just hang out with each other!
