Osho Devavani Meditation – part of the Heart & Soul Meditation Series(Online)
What is Osho Devavani Meditation? Devanani means Divine Voice. It is a beautiful meditation which penetrates our subconsciousness & taps into the part of the brain used before we learned how to speak. It is a very relaxing meditation & has a possibility to help with insomnia if done at bedtime. It is not a cathartic meditation. It is a graceful, subtle mediation that has a very deep relaxing effect on the body/mind.
Why do we offer this meditations? In an explanation by Osho about this meditation he says:
“When the unconscious speaks, the unconscious knows no language. It is a very, very old method – ‘speaking in tongues’. It is a wonderful method, one of the most deep and penetrating into the unconscious.”
How we do it?
Osho Devavani Meditation has 4 stages & last for 60 minutes. The meditation is over when you hear three gong beats. The eyes remain closed throughout. We will give experiential details on how to participate during the Zoom session.
First Stage: 15 minutes
Sit quietly while the music is playing.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
Start making nonsense sounds, for example “la la la” and continue until unfamiliar word-like sounds arise. These gentle sounds come from the unfamiliar part of the brain used as a child, before words were learned.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
Stand up and continue this unfamiliar language, allowing your body to move softly in harmony with the sound. If your body is relaxed, the subtle energies will create a Latihan – a spontaneous, unstructured movement outside your control.
Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
Lie down, be silent and still.
There is specific music for this meditation which can be downloaded.
As part of the Heart and Soul series, each Wednesday we will present a Meditation from the numerous meditation traditions Osho has given us. We want to share and pass on as many of these as possible. Often when Shanti (one of the meditation facilitators of The World of Meditation) would meet with Osho in a darshan, he would introduce to her a meditation technique, asking her to try it out. Her love for experimenting with a variety of techniques continues even to this day.
Each session we will introduce the particular meditation presented. Then we will all do the meditation. There is always time before and after each meditation to ask questions and to just hang out with each other!
